Urgent iOS 26.4 Update: What You Must Do Now

Apple has rolled out iOS 26Urgent iOS 26.4 Update: What You Must Do Now .4, introducing several new features for iPhone users along with eight fresh emoji. However, beyond these additions, the update carries an important advisory—users are strongly encouraged to install it immediately due to numerous security improvements.

This latest version addresses a total of 37 vulnerabilities within the iOS system. Apple has intentionally kept technical details limited to ensure that more users update their devices before potential attackers can take advantage of these weaknesses.

A significant portion of the fixes focuses on WebKit, the core engine behind the Safari browser. According to Apple’s official information, multiple issues were resolved here, including a vulnerability (CVE-2026-2887) that could allow cross-site scripting attacks if a user accessed a specially crafted malicious website.

Another WebKit-related issue (CVE-2026-20643) has also been corrected. This flaw could let harmful web content bypass the Same Origin Policy, potentially exposing user data. Interestingly, Apple had initially patched this issue earlier through its Background Security Improvement update in iOS 26.3.1 (a), which served as a test for delivering rapid security fixes.

In addition to browser-related problems, the update also fixes four critical flaws within the kernel, which is the core component of the iPhone’s operating system. This follows a previous update (iOS 26.3) that addressed a vulnerability already being exploited in real-world attacks.

Although none of the newly fixed issues in iOS 26.4 are currently known to be actively exploited, the large number of vulnerabilities makes it essential for users to update without delay to stay protected.

The update also enhances device safety by enabling Stolen Device Protection by default, adding another layer of security for users.

For older devices, Apple has also released iOS 18.7.7, which includes a smaller set of bug fixes. This version is available for models such as the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and the 7th generation iPad. However, devices capable of running iOS 26 can no longer downgrade or choose to install iOS 18, as Apple has removed that option.

The iOS 26.4 update supports a wide range of devices, including iPhone 11 and newer models, various iPad Pro versions, iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad (8th generation and newer), and iPad mini (5th generation and above).

To install the update, simply navigate to Settings > General > Software Update on your device and download iOS 26.4 as soon as possible.
